Mother's Cultivating Resilience

Our Story
Mother’s Cultivating Resilience was inspired by three students in a grant-writing class while earning their bachelor’s degrees in Human Services. Their assignment was to create a fictional organization for a grant proposal, but the idea became personal: all three students were single mothers who needed resources and a strong support system. Together, they imagined an organization that could help single mothers and their children.
After graduating in 2014, I, Tamesha Stafford, decided to open a nonprofit organization to support single mothers and their children. A few years later, I expanded the population we served to include low-income families, people experiencing homelessness, and foster youth. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I later applied for 501(c)(3) status and welcomed Jessica and Beverly aboard. They each bring a wealth of knowledge that has helped us serve families in the Bakersfield and Bay Area communities.
We have proudly served the Bakersfield community since 2014, and the San Francisco, Concord, and Richmond areas since 2021.
We look forward to continuing to serve these communities and more, now and in the near future.
